He governed a large number of people, dwelling in the region of Anemorea and the town of Hyampolis.1,2 His domains included the rocky city of Pytho, the holy city of Crisa, and the town of Daulis.2 He also lived near the waters of the river Cephissus and in Lilaea by its springs.2
Schedius sailed to Troy with forty ships, leading the Phocians in the company of his brother Epistrophus.2,3 He used Panopeus as a fortified post to guard against the Boeotians.4 He traveled to Sparta to seek Helen's hand in marriage.5
The accounts differ on his parentage, with some naming Perimedes as his father.6 During the fight over Patroclus's body, Hector killed Schedius.6,4 Other traditions state that a spear Hector threw at Ajax struck Schedius in the Troad.1,7 The spear pierced his chest and exited through his shoulder blade, causing him to fall heavily to the ground.1 Yet another version claims the son of Peleus killed him using his father's spear.8
After his death, his bones were brought back to his native land.7 A tomb called the Schedieum in Daphnus is identified as his burial place, situated near a spring in a well.9,7
