Dictys, son of Magnes, stood as the brother of Polydectes, the king of Seriphus, and was recognized as one of the saviours of Perseus.1,2,3,4 He helped colonize the island of Seriphus.1 When the infant Perseus arrived in a chest that washed ashore, Dictys rescued the child and raised him as his own.5
Later, Dictys took refuge at altars to escape the violence of his brother Polydectes.6 Perseus appointed Dictys as the king of Seriphus, making him the ruler of the island.6 In Athens, an altar dedicated to Dictys and Clymene remains a testament to his legacy.3
