GODSUNDER

Introducing Godsunder

A series of tactical party RPGs set in one world built from real myth, starting with Godsunder: Greek Mythos. The website is open, and the first gods are here.

Godsunder is a series of turn-based tactical party RPGs set in one world built from real myth. Today its website opens, and with it the first look at the gods of its first title, Godsunder: Greek Mythos.

What Godsunder is

You play a hero of legend: Perseus, Heracles, Theseus, Jason, Achilles, Odysseus, Atalanta or Bellerophon to begin with. You grow your following not by building units but by freeing captives, winning renown and earning loyalty, and you lead a party and a warband through a world where every god you provoke remembers, and comes for you.

The heroes you don't choose live on as rivals and companions, each with their own saga. A part of the game called Living Mythos writes new quests, rumours and omens around what you do, built on what the ancient texts actually say, while the game's rules decide every outcome.

The whole series shares a single map of the Earth. Each title brings one culture's myths to life and is complete on its own, and titles you own join into one world. The Greek world comes first. Everywhere else is still uncharted.

The first gods

The characters page now shows the twelve Olympians, Hades and Persephone, and the first of the Titans. Each one is designed from the ancient myths and drawn in full turnaround, ready to be built in 3D for the game.

New characters appear on the site as soon as they're finished, so the pantheon will keep growing: the rest of the Titans, the primordial powers, and the gods of the sea, the sky and the underworld are on their way.

Where things stand

Godsunder: Greek Mythos is in development. An early build of the world map, the front end and hero selection is running in the studio, and the art pipeline is working through the full pantheon. There's no release date yet, and we won't give one until we're sure of it.

Godsunder is made by one person, Christian Marvin, directing a studio of AI tools. We'd rather be plain about that from day one; the FAQ explains how.
