HERMIT CRAB (crustacean in a borrowed shell)
Creature of Greece
A true-to-life hermit crab with a compact forebody, jointed walking legs, and unequal pincers. Its soft, curled abdomen is enclosed in a borrowed pale cream sea-snail shell with a rounded spiral and a broad opening. The exposed head, pincers, and legs are covered in a red-orange exoskeleton with a naturally granular texture.
