Eetion stood as the head of one of the two dynasties of the Cilicians, a lineage distinct from the one led by Mynes.1 He was the father of Cypselus.2,3

After failing to produce sons, Eetion traveled to Delphi to seek divine guidance regarding his future offspring.4 The Pythian priestess addressed him as a man worthy of honor, noting that no one currently gave him such recognition.4 He received an oracle concerning a child of Labda who would be a millstone falling upon rulers, a prophecy that held the same meaning as an earlier one sent to Corinth.5,4
